Flashbacks reveal he wasn’t the perfect guy everyone thought he was—he was emotionally and physically abusive.
Both young women in this novel have witnessed violence against women and experience violence themselves.

While the term has several meanings, the most frequent usage refers to two or more people exploring whether they are romantically or sexually compatible by participating in dates with the other.
This means that being together all the time or constantly texting just isn't feasible, and that is okay. I love my boyfriend, but if I talked to him constantly, I'd go crazy.
I'll admit that I have a history of seeking out broken people and trying to fix them, which never ends well. In a healthy relationship, changing your partner shouldn't even be a desire on your radar.
His journey of redemption is quite interesting, and the entire series deals with issues of consent in important yet understated ways. Young woman’s boyfriend becomes increasingly controlling, jealous, and abusive. A successful young girl dates a troubled boy, and he becomes physically and emotionally abusive.
